Juwelier Ehniss Open 2025

Homage to the traditions of golf

The participants of the first tournament day of the Juwelier Ehniss Open 2025, presented by the Bodensee Hickory Society, experienced in mid-June that the short course at Schloss Langenstein also has a lot to offer. Historical golf was celebrated in perfect form over 18 holes. And the exact approach game with the historic hickory clubs turned out to be not so easy....

Hickory golf is a feast for the senses, a journey through time that evokes the values of traditional golf and combines technique and style. The game is played with lovingly restored golf clubs that were painstakingly made by hand before 1935 and are fitted with hickory shafts. These clubs with illustrious names such as Niblick, Mashie Niblick, Mashie, Jigger, Brassie or Spoon pose a challenge even for experienced golfers. They are much less forgiving than modern clubs and teach the player to play with precision. Played with feeling and control, the results are hardly inferior to modern clubs, say hickory enthusiasts, and anyone who has ever swung one of these clubs and heard the harmonious sound of hitting the right spot quickly succumbs to the fascination of this sport.

The clothing, which is inspired by the fashion of the 1920s and 1930s, also pays homage to the traditions of golf. The men compete in plus-fours, plus-twos or knickerbockers, combined with waistcoats, shirts, ties or bow ties and stylish flat caps or hats. For the ladies, the skirts reach below the knees, with elegant cloche or circular saw hats. Bright colours are avoided, even umbrellas and rainwear fit harmoniously into the overall look. Some even pull a historic trolley. Distance measuring devices of any kind are not permitted.

The second tournament day of the Juwelier Ehniss Open will follow on 6 July 2025, again on the beautiful short course. Registrations are still possible until 04 July 2025, 12:00 noon at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

This wonderful vintage event would not have been possible without the generous sponsorship of several players and companies, Freyersfeld AG, Juwelier Peter Ehniss, Urs Portmann AG, Sebastian Schröder, Hut.de and Country Club Schloss Langenstein.

The first three places went to Erika Frey (Constance), Göran Norring (Langenstein) and Sebastian Schröder (Liechtenstein).
